Buying and collecting car memorabilia

Buying a new car can be an expensive affair, and over the last few years, buyers have increasingly turned to the internet in search of the best places to find the best deals. But for those with a general interest in cars and memorabilia, then the Classified ads can also be a great starting point, particularly for anyone who collects car parts to build their own models or has a general obsession with all things about motor vehicles. The internet offers people the chance to locate items that would otherwise be very difficult to get hold of, but it also allows enthusiasts to network and exchange tips and ideas to improve their own collections.

Car memorabilia
Although perhaps no something that might interest everyone, those with a fierce obsession could do worse than to browse the internet to see what other people might have to offer. Whether you are building your own classic car for a hobby or perhaps even renovating an old model from scratch, finding the particular tools and equipment necessary to make your project work can sometimes be a difficult task. Finding the relevant spare parts need no longer be a chore though. As classifieds were traditionally restricted to the local newspapers, the concept of advertising online means that enthusiasts have a much wider choice of sources for the items they require and can locate the parts they need in distance to where they live which can sometimes save on delivery costs too.

Spare Parts
For anyone who simply needs a few extra pieces to complete their project then looking for second hand parts can be both cheaper and more convenient. If a model is rare and it is difficult to find a manufacturer that still makes the product you're seeking, then second hand parts make the most obvious solution. There are obvious doubts about how good the condition of the parts may be, anything second hand, particularly something that may have had a lot of use in its previous life, may well only have a limited life span, but a true enthusiast should be able to determine whether they are getting a bargain or not. The advantage of internet classifieds over the newspaper variety is that the seller can download photographs of the product they wish to sell, making it easier for the buyer to judge its condition.

Some enthusiasts may well be prepared to offer a generous sum of money for spare parts, and so anyone who is thinking of taking their car to the scrap yard might do well to source out anything that can be passed on before hand.

Collectables
Collecting cars can obviously be an expensive habit, so it comes as no surprise tat some people might settle less for the actual car and keep those parts that are more convenient for storing. The badges from cars tend to change as eras and models come and go and for those lucky enough to find them, there can be some real antique finds available. The rarer the piece then obviously the more expensive you may find them to be, but with the option to search and advertise on line for free, then some of that money can be made back.

Not all memorabilia is restricted to car parts themselves. Advertising for a particular model can be particularly popular too such as books, manuals, tin signs or even exclusive posters. Rarer vehicles, even on brand new cars, tend to have a limited number of models made only so unless you're a multi-millionaire, then you may have to settle for a smaller token but these too can have great value after a while.

The big and small screens
For anyone in possession of a rare or older model of car, then you can make money without actually needing to sell. Television and film crews frequently need to source vehicles for period dramas, anything that might need to help set the scene about the time in which a story is set, and they will pay good money to rent out models. It might even be a good opportunity for you to make an appearance as an extra and in most cases they will need someone to drive the cars too. This isn't restricted to cars either, motorbikes with side cars can be particularly impossible to get hold of these days so if you own one and want to make a lot of cash, then why not place an ad and see if anyone gets in touch?

Auctions and Events
Even if you don't quite have the tie to build your own or the money to make a serious go of collecting memorabilia, then the classifieds can be a great way to find out about auctions of car shows that might be happening around the country. These sorts of events are particularly specialised and therefore don't get a great deal of advertising, so the internet can be the best way of keeping informed.
