There are various types of products available over the counter -- from cleansers, to spot treatments to bath milks that may be useful to people in this position.

It's generally recommended to try out any skin, face and body care products if you can before you buy them. This is especially important if you have issues with sensitive skin and/or skin allergies. You obviously can't do this is you buy online but you can still visit a high street shop and see if they have any testers that you can try before you buy over the Internet.

It's important also to know what kind of skin type you are before buying products for your face. If you have dry skin, for example, you'll need products that can compensate for this and help get rid of the problem. These products are generally more oily than products designed for oily skin where the need is more to dry out the skin rather than moisturise it even more.

Make sure that the products you buy will be protectively packaged and sent by a suitable postal method. You should also check out the returns policies of the site to see what your options and liabilities are if you have to return an order.

If you're buying expensive designer products then you also need to check that you are buying original products and not fakes. There is a big market in designer skin care fakes so you'll need to try and establish that you are buying originals. Fake products here may not work as well or smell as good as the original and the quality of the ingredients won't be as good.

If you're looking for a bargain in the designer product ranges then watch out for people who have a lot of the same product to sell at the same time. They may well be selling fake copies rather than the real McCoy.
